Day 1 summary: A long awaited series for India at last started. They were eagerly waiting for this series to take revenge of the last series which they lost to Australia 4-0. Australia built a fast wicket for Indian batsmen and exploited them on that surface. Now its time for India and they also built a spinning track which the Australian ase weak at. The first day though belong to both the teams India though aseare a bit ahead taking two more wickets just before the end of the days play as Australia were reduced to 316 for 7 wickets.
Winning the toss Australian captain Michael Clarke elected to bat first. They went off to a good start and scored 64 runs at opening stand before Ed Cowan was departed. Phil Hughes also followed him scoring just 6 runs leaving the side at 72 for 2. They soon were 5 down for 153 runs all the batsmen falling to Ashwin. It looked like Australia would be going down before 200 runs. But Clarke and Henriques saved the day for them with a partnership of 151 runs taking the team total to 304 runs when latter departed scoring 68 runs. Starc soon followed scoring 3 runs as Australia were 7 down for 307 runs. Clarke scored another century continuing his outstanding batting form from the previous year. Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers taking 6 wickets for 88 runs. Jadeja picked up the other wicket. Now it is to see how far Australia go tomorrow.
